Morten Harket - Brother (11.04.14)

Morten released his sixth solo album on 11 April in Norway, Germany, Switzerland and Austria and on 14 April in the UK. The cover art features an inverted shot of the white "love heart" sweet from the single, which is black, rather than white. The love heart appears to be glowing with white light coming from behind. "Morten Harket" is located in white letters along the top. The inside of the album contains a 12-page booklet which has black pages with the song lyrics all printed in white, plus 7 shots of Morten, two of them colour, and the others in black and white. The inside of the back cover displays the information; "Produced by Peter Kvint and Morten Harket". It also comes with credits relating to the other band members, "Management: Harold Wiik for Scoundrel Days AS.", "Photography: Just Loomis", "Art Direction & Design: Jeri Heiden and Nick Steinhardt for SMOG Design, Inc." and that the album was "Published by Sony ATV Scandinavia/Kvintessential admin by Sony ATV Scandinavia/Copyright Control". The disc is white with an outer grey rim plus the heart from the "love heart" and title "Brother" printed in grey. Morten Harket is included along the top again in grey, with a "STARWATCH ENTERTAINMENT" and "WRASSE RECORDS" logos located at the bottom. Displayed around the bottom outer edge of the disc is some copyright text printed in white; "(P)&© Compass Point AS 2014. Licensed to Wrasse Records Limited in territory. Copyright exists in all records issued by Wrasse Records Limited. All rights reserved. Unauthorised copying, reproduction, hiring, lending, public performance and broadcast prohibited. WRASS319". The CD tray is transparent, through which you can see the inside of the back sleeve, which is black with lots of small glowing lights. On the back cover, it features a black and white shot of Morten sitting down on a bench next to some nets, guitar in hand. The track listing is located in black bold down the right-hand side, with "Produced by Peter Kvint and Morten Harket" included. At the bottom left-hand corner is a white barcode "5 060001 275475", with the "WRASSE RECORDS" and "STARWATCH ENTERTAINMENT" logos, "mortenharket.com | wrasserecords.com" website addresses and some additional Wrasse Records contact details; "Wrasse Records: Tel +44 (0) 1372 272 704. Email: [email protected]" to the copyright information which appears on the disc, located at the bottom right-hand corner.

 

On 7 January, a limited edition vinyl of "Brother" was released in Norway by Universal Music Norway. The cover is white with a large white embossed "BROTHER" loveheart filling most of the sleeve. There is a transparent sticker on the front sleeve with text in silver "Morten Harket Brother-The Album Limited Edition 180 Gram Vinyl 602547132628". The back sleeve is also white with the track list printed in silver down the centre.

   

It comes with a 4-page black and white folded picture insert with shots from "Do You Remember Me?" music video. The front and back of the insert features a total of 30 live shots taken on tour. The inside features a large black and white shot of Morten wearing a leather jacket with production information printed in white at the bottom left hand side. The right hand side is black with the lyrics printed in white. The disc stickers are similar to the front cover of the LP with the lyrics printed in silver text over the bottom part of the heart. The album was remastered by Tim Young at Metropolis Mastering for the vinyl release.

Variations

Europe

The European release of "Brother" is similar to the UK release but coming with a revised Catalogue number 88843045082. It was instead "Distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH" rather than "Wrasse Records". The front and back sleeve and disc is virtually the same as the UK release, coming with a similar layout including the "STARWATCH ENTERTAINMENT" logo and "mortenharket.com" website address, but the copyright and distributing information displayed on the disc; "88843045082 ℗&© Compass Point AS 2014. Under exclusive license to Starwatch Entertainment GmbH. All rights reserved. Distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH. Made in the EU. BIEM/GEMA LC 24463" and on the back sleeve; "℗&© Compass Point AS 2014 under exclusive license to Starwatch Entertainment GmbH. Distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH. Made in the E.U. LC 24463" is different. On the back sleeve, the white barcode displayed in the bottom right-hand corner has also changed and comes with a different number "8 88430 45082 0" compared to the UK edition. This European edition was also available for the release in Germany, which includes an additional white rectangular sticker on the front with the German tour dates listed in black; "Morten Harket Live 2014 05.05. Hamburg 06.05 Koln 08.05. Berlin 09.05. Offenbach 88843045082".

Germany

In Norway, the "Universal Music Group", rather than "Wrasse Records" or "Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH" released the album "Brother" onto CD. The front and back cover artwork and booklet is similar to both the UK and European editions but on the back sleeve, the white barcode "6 02537 76854 7" at the bottom left-hand corner is again different. At the bottom right-hand corner of the back sleeve is the "UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP" logo, "mortenharket.com" website address, Catalogue number 602537768547 and some production and copyright information; "(P)&© Compass Point AS 2014 under exclusive license to Universal Music AS, Norway". The title "Morten Harket Brother", Catalogue number and "UNIVERSAL" are additionally included on the spine.

Ukraine

A Ukraine release is similar to the European release and was again "Distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH". It comes with a slightly darker and poorer printed black and white front and back cover sleeve with the regular album artwork and layout throughout. On the back sleeve, there is a silver "КОНТРОЛЬНА МАРКА" musical scale hologram sticker displaying the album title Morten Harket "Brother" and coding K 1483903E in black, located in the centre, with the regular white barcode "8 88430 45082 0" included in the bottom left-hand corner, but slightly reduced in size. The usual "STARWATCH ENTERTAINMENT" logo, "mortenharket.com" website address and Catalogue number 88843045082 are present in the bottom right-hand corner, along with some slightly amended European production and copyright information; "℗&© Compass Point AS 2014 under exclusive license to Starwatch Entertainment GmbH. Distributed by Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH. LC 24463" excluding the text; "Made in the EU". The inside of the album contains only a folded insert rather than the regular lyric booklet, displaying only the inside front and back cover pages containing the picture of Morten sitting holding a guitar and the full track credits to the making of the album. The Catalogue number 88843046082 has again been included at the bottom right-hand corner on the back of the folded insert. The disc itself comes with the regular layout displaying the pattern of the love heart, but again coloured somewhat darker. "Morten Harket" is located along the top, with the title "BROTHER" in the centre and the "STARWATCH" logo included near the bottom. Displayed around the bottom outer rim of the disc is the usual production, distributing and copyright text but again omitting "Made in the E.U."; "88843045082 ℗ & © Compass Point AS 2014.
